“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you”. Matthew 6:14, NKJV
Sign of Our Identity - “I Didn’t Feel It”
An elderly church elder in the hospital told me, “Do not pray for me, for I am lost.” I asked her why she felt that way, and she shared her lifelong struggle with a significant sin. Even though she confessed every day, she felt unforgiven. After a heartfelt conversation, she found peace.
Forgiveness is not about feelings; it's about faith. The Bible says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us” (1 John 1:9, NKJV). This promise applies to all sins, no matter how big or small. When we confess, we are immediately forgiven because Jesus paid the price on the cross (John 1:29, NKJV).
To receive this forgiveness, we must believe in God's promise and accept it by faith, not by feelings (Rom. 4:3). Salvation is a gift of grace (Eph. 2:8, NIV). We cannot pay for our sins, but God promises to forgive us through Christ.
As we focus on Jesus’ sacrifice, we see His great love for us. Those who receive God's grace should share it freely. How we treat others shows whether we have truly accepted His love (Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 251).
