Day 6 - Your Kingdom Come

“The kingdom of God is within you”. Luke 17:21b, NKJV

Spiritual Grit

Grit is important in our spiritual lives, just like it is in sports, learning, and business. It means having the passion and determination to achieve meaningful goals. To succeed, we need to organize our lives to avoid distractions, especially in our relationship with God and in our prayer life. We must be persistent in prayer; often, we don’t see answers because we lose faith or become discouraged.

In Luke 18, Jesus talks about a persistent widow who kept asking an unjust judge for help. Because of her persistence, she eventually got the help she needed. Unlike that judge, God truly cares about our prayers and wants to help us (Jer. 33:3).

Today, we need more people to pray sincerely, not just talk about it. This commitment is important in our marriages, classrooms, churches, and homes. God’s timing is different from ours, so we must stay steady in our prayers and focus on long-term goals instead of quick solutions.

Ellen G. White pointed out, "The greatest victories…are those victories that are gained in the audience chamber with God, when earnest, agonizing faith lays hold upon the mighty arm of power" (Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 203).
